My interests are wide-ranging: Business: I am Chairman of both Cranham Investments Limited and Brunel Management Limited, each with interests in Channel Islands property. Cranham is one of the largest property investment companies in Jersey, with interests mainly in commercial property. Brunel is the largest archiving and document storage specialist in the Channel Islands. It manages a large portfolio of commercial properties and also associations of co-owners of flying-freeholds. Brunel is the largest private-sector manager of residential property in Jersey. Social: In 1994 I was asked by the government of Jersey to set up a Housing Trust in the Island. Twelve months later The Jersey Homes Trust was established, with five other dedicated and unpaid professionals, working to provide affordable housing for the underprivileged in Jersey. With government support and subsidies, we borrowed over £100 million from Jersey banks to develop over 700 units of social rented housing in Jersey, for which we are now the landlord . Personal: By inclination I am a mountain man. I find myself in Switzerland for much of the winter indulging my love of skiing , and in the mountains of Niigata in Japan in connection with my koi hobby in spring and autumn. These activities sit nicely with my life-long interest in photography, motoring and travel I have lived in Jesey, Channel Islands for 40 years. The largest of the islands and self-governing, Jersey is a major off-shore finance centre and tourist destination. |
